Responsibilities

Career Transition Specialists are the central point of contact with the graduates and former enrollees on their caseloads.

  1. Assists in quality-placement efforts for all assigned students
  2. Acts as a liaison with center-placement staff to place students prior to separation
  3. Conducts training classes on job interviewing
  4. Assists participants in focusing on their occupational preferences through interest/ability assessments
  5. Arranges for job interviews for students
  6. Provides job-development services for specific, assigned occupational clusters
  7. Assists students with transitional services (i.e., housing, transportation, personal services)
  8. Provides continual follow-up with all terminated students
  9. Is encouraged to develop caseloads into support groups
  10. Connects students on their caseload with the Job Corps Alumni Association
  11. Identifies community resources that can bring added value to caseloads, both collectively and individually
  12. Develops and monitors on-the-job training contracts
  13. Maintains record of participant progress through employment-skills training
  14. Conducts at least 10 on-site visits with employers each month
  15. Maintains accountability of property, adheres to safety practices, and performs safety inspections in area of responsibility

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree or four years of related experience

Experience

One year of experience in sales, marketing, or counseling-related services

Skills/Other Requirements

  • Valid drivers license in state assigned
  • Skill in developing job-placement opportunities
  • Clear understanding of effective case management/documentation
  • Motivated, fast-paced, and energetic personality
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to develop new community partnerships and increase employment opportunities
